Sami likes going to the park.
On a leash. Like a dog.
We started small, just around the building.
But now, he pulls toward the trees like he knows where we’re headed.
Tail up. Ears forward. Full strut.
He’s not scared of dogs.
Actually, he kind of challenges them.
He’ll lock eyes with a golden retriever like, “What?”
And the weirdest part?
The dogs step back.
Sami’s friendly with kids, too.
He lets them pet him.
Sometimes they ask if they can hold the leash.
He’s fine with it.
He’ll sit and let a toddler pat his head, over and over, with sticky fingers and full toddler strength — just blinks and leans in.
People always ask if he’s special.
What kind of breed.
How we trained him.
He’s not trained. He’s just… Sami.
Friendly. Confident. A little weird.
The only cat I’ve ever seen hold his ground in a park full of dogs.
Note:
I wish summer in Canada lasted longer.
Sami does too.
