Sami had a vet appointment.
Just a routine blood test.
We brought his favorite carrier, a towel from home, gave him a treat, and told him it would be quick.
He didn’t buy it.
As soon as we walked into the clinic, he tensed up.
The growling started in the waiting room.
When the vet tried to draw blood, Sami completely lost it.
He thrashed, howled, tried to bite — full panic mode.
Even the vet had to give up.
“We’ll have to sedate him next time,” she said.
We drove home.
Sami stepped out of the carrier like he won a prize.
Honestly, I let him have that moment.
The Second Try
A few days later, I gave him the meds the vet prescribed.
He blinked at me like nothing was happening… then slowly melted into the rug.
He looked relaxed. Too relaxed.
Like a sleepy drunk.
It was weirdly adorable.
Back at the clinic, he didn’t fight.
No growling, no flailing.
He let them take his blood like it was no big deal.
I just stood there, amazed.
What I Took From This
Turns out, staying calm makes all the difference — for him and for me.
The sedation helped. The vet was kind.
And we got it done.
Finally.
